Discussion

Appendix C item (lost stones for which no illustration has survived)

The stone is included here because the grave in which it was noted is close to the place where Padstow 2 was found buried in the churchyard (Langdon, Arthur 1896, 229, 408). If the cross-head noted in the grave was indeed a part of Padstow 2 (p. 177, Ills. 164–8), then it may be of tenth- to eleventh-century date; however, as there is no further information, this must remain speculation.
