Appendix C (Lost stones for which no illustration has survived)
There is a trapdoor in the floor of the nave (noted in Ryder 1993, 167) which gives access to traces of older cross walls, believed locally to be Anglo-Saxon, but there does not appear to have ever been the discovery of any decorated stone which might be of pre-Conquest date. The existence of this stone seems uncertain.
