Description

This has a rounded profile with a slightly chamfered edge. There are two incised markings about 18 cm apart which are visible at the west end but worn away in the middle.

Discussion

Appendix A item (stones dating from Saxo-Norman overlap period or of uncertain date).

This piece is carefully related to the threshold, and there is some doubt as to whether it is a reused crossshaft. If it is, it may be related to the wheel/disc-headed crosses of Cornwall (Langdon 1896, 96–9)
